The underwater viewing tunnel puts you at eye level with the platypus as they swim, and it&#8217;s genuinely spectacular. The touch pools have supervised interaction with freshwater invertebrates \u2014 our kids were obsessed.<\/p>\n<h2>What to know before you go<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The exhibit is included in general zoo admission<\/li>\n<li>Busiest between 11am\u20131pm \u2014 arrive early for quieter viewing<\/li>\n<li>Platypus are most active in morning and late afternoon<\/li>\n<li>The interactive dig station is great for kids 5+<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our verdict<\/h2>\n<p>Melbourne Zoo has always been worth the trip, but the Platypus House is a genuine new reason to go \u2014 even if you&#8217;ve been many times before.
